The new Summer Reading Challenge is here!
Each year thousands of children across the country take part, visiting libraries, reading books and receiving rewards.
Unfortunately, this year, with the temporary closure of libraries, and the measures that will be necessary to provide a safe environment for staff and library visitors on reopening, it will be impossible to run the challenge in the way that it has been done in previous years.
However, The Reading Agency have taken the Summer Reading Challenge online. The theme of this year’s challenge is The Silly Squad and is all about funny books, happiness, and laughter. The Silly Squad is a team of animals who love to go on adventures, having fun and a few laughs along the way. The characters have been illustrated by the award winning author and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson.
Children can join the adventure by setting up their own personal challenge on the Silly Squad online platform at www.sillysquad.org.uk. They can keep track of the books that they have read, see book recommendations, and unlock rewards. There will also be lots of activities and quizzes to keep them entertained and encourage them to keep up their reading over the summer.
Brought to our attention today - keep your eyes peeled to see our very own Matthew from Year 5 in action. These isolation music videos have been a highlight of lockdown for me, I have utmost respect for those who take part. Mr P

Liverpool Parent and Carers - LivPaC
Who we are:
Liverpool Parent and Carers Forum (LivPaC) is a group of parents and carers of children and young people with special additional needs and/or disabilities (SEND) who work with education, health and care services to ensure the services they plan and deliver are fit for purpose and meet the needs of children, young people and their families across Liverpool. We have a Steering Group of parent and carer volunteers who lead this work and who actively seek out the experiences and views of parents and carers across Liverpool to make sure we know what is important to them. We aim to give parents and carers a collective voice and use our experience, knowledge and feedback from families to help commissioners and providers plan and develop the quality, range and accessibility of services families use.
What we do: -
Through our participation and co-production, we are working to create a culture across all services which places the needs of families at the centre of the decision making.
We Aim to:
''Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much''
