Pupil Premium Funding
The Pupil Premium fund is provided to schools as an additional amount to the schools main budget. It is calculated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are currently eligible for free school meals (FSM), those children of service families and for those pupils who are being 'Looked After' (in care) for 6 months or more. In 2012, funding was extended to also include pupils who have been eligible for for free school meals within the past 6 years.
Schools decide how this Pupil Premium funding is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for those individuals in those categories. However, schools are held accountable for how they have used these additional funds and must publish this information on their school website.
